Art Nouveau 9ct Gold & Citrine Necklace
This pretty lavalier style necklace features a pear and oval shaped citrine, of good colour, mounted in an open back setting which allows the natural light to highlight their lovely colours resulting in a wonderful display of sparkle as the stones catch the light.
Both stones are claw set and connected by a knife edged bar. They are attached to a gold rolo link chain that has a barrel style clasp with push in tongue style closure. This exquisite antique necklace is in very good condition.
Hallmarked for 9ct gold on the clasp and bottom of the pear shaped pendant this necklace approximately measures:-
Length: 16.25" drop 3.5" total length 19.75"
Hallmarks: 9ct Gold.
Date: Art Nouveau (1890 to 1910)
The name Lavalier (also spelt lavalier or lavallière) derived from the name of the Duchesse de La Vallière (1644-1710), one of the mistresses of Louis XIV, who favoured this style of necklace.
Although citrine is the traditional birthstone for November we believe this exquisite necklace would add sparkle and colour to any outfit or occasion.
